To lose weight and or change your body composition means you have to be willing to mix things up. A walk at 60% heart rate for 30-60 minutes a day is not going to cut it. You have to be willing to sweat, to pant, to feel the burn. Mix it up ... use HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) training or Tabata intervals ... interval training is a great way to lose fat but everyday would be too much ... and could lead to overuse injuries. I suggest you mix up your intensities between high and low as well as mix up the type of movements you do. Cross training helps avoid injury. Always include functional activities inside your workouts and warmups or cool downs. For example, you could do one day hard, one day easy. You could include heavy weightlifting, restorative yoga, and cycling at various intensities as part of your weekly routine. Variety, it is the spice of life!

Common Mistakes when trying to incorporate changes into your Lifestyle!!
1. Don't Diet or Cut out carbs, fats or proteins. Instead make healthy lifestyle changes. Eat 5-6 small well balanced meals throughout the day. 2. Not having goals ot having vague goals like 'lose weight' is not enough,to see success you need to set achieveable, specific, clear and measureable goals. 3.Do more then just go through the motions, put your heart and soul into it. 4.Be sure not to give up when things get tough or you get off track. Choose to stay dedicated through every hurdle, step, bump or situation that crosses your path. 5. Willpower' and trying to change by force are not what you need, you need to focus on lifestlye changes and establishing life long habits. 6.If your going to dedicate time to working out..... try to train with intensity, get the most you can out of every minute of it!! Push yourself! 7. Dont Focus on trivial things or fads etc... Instead Focus on the things that really matter (eating well, working out and being consistent). 8. Try to exchange your ideas that food is for pleasure and avoid Emotional eating, try looking at Eating food for fuel, health and energy. Look at it for its intended purpose! 9. Try to be consistent 90% of the time... and recognize it is okay to enjoy the odd indulgence or have a cheat meal. This is a lifestyle and thinking that it is all or nothing will sabotage that lifestyle. Focus on consistency and balance. This journey requires life long changes. Remember that everything counts so dont overdue those little teats or treats. 10 Don't expecting results over night, you need to be patient with yourself and your results. This is a journey not a race! Always Rememeber to Love Yourself, keep a positive attitude...no negative self talk!!! Be the BEST you can be! We are all different, love your differences!! You may have heard the saying “If you think you can’t, you’re probably right and if you think you can, you’re also probably right”. What we can and can’t do is based on where we focus. Most people who struggle or have struggled with weight loss, food addictions or lack of activity are used of saying “No, I can’t”. This phrase becomes such an automatic response that you do not even think about it.
This "I cant" mindset is such a huge contributor to our life. Stop and think how many times you say I cant in your life or even every day. I can't eat that or I can't exercise etc.... This I can't can also be found in the excuses like I don't have time or I am not capable - its the same thing just worded differently. We are all capable -- YOU can do it! I challenge you to start the process of changing this mindset. Whenever you think I can't I want you to ask yourself if it is true? Can I do this? Is there some way I can modify this situation so that I can do it? Is there one tiny thing you could do Today? Simply start that thought process and start changing your focus to beleiving you can! I am not saying be unrealistic, if you have'nt been active in a long time you may not run a marathon tomorrow, however you could start with a 10 minute walk! if it is your desire eventually you can run the marathon! Find your own way to say I CAN and Beleive in Yourself!! Coreen |
